Secretome
The secretome is the complete collection of biologically active molecules secreted by living cells, including growth factors, cytokines, peptides, extracellular matrix proteins, and extracellular vesicles such as exosomes. These molecules represent the language through which cells communicate, coordinate repair, and maintain tissue balance.
In regenerative skincare, fibroblast-derived secretomes are prized for their ability to promote collagen production, calm inflammation, and restore skin vitality. Importantly, the secretome refers only to the molecular output of the cells themselves, not the surrounding fluid. It is the content, the biologically active cargo released by cells, that drives regeneration.
In short: the secretome is what the cells secrete, while conditioned media is where those secreted molecules are collected.
In aesthetic treatments, the secretome is commonly applied through conditioned-media formulations that contain growth factors, cytokines, and exosomes. Our secretome-based s4S SOLUTION™ reflects this approach by offering a high-density mixture of these naturally produced signaling molecules.
